Sclerotherapy Before After

Injection therapy or sclerotherapy have a high success rate. If the veins do not fade away at the first session, there can be another session after a suitable gap which can make the legs healthier looking, better and smoother so that the patient can be proud of them.

Sclerotherapy is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure where varicose and spider veins are treated and made to disappear. The procedure takes hardly half an hour to an hour. It is relatively painless. There may be a burning sensation when the liquid is injected but this is momentary and bearable. Different types of solutions are available and the doctor will decide the type of liquid to be used and the quantity as well as the dosage to be used. It varies from person to person.

More women than men suffer from varicose and spider veins. These are red or blue veins, which become prominent with advancing age, pregnancy or sedentary job. If a person sits or stands for long periods of time every day, varicose veins or spider veins may appear. They do not look very attractive and can cause embarrassment to the person who would surely like to get them removed. Sclerotherapy does just that, it makes these veins fade away and disappear. And in most cases they do so without any fuss.

In rare cases more sessions may be needed at monthly intervals but eventually they disappear, to the relief of the patient. The veins which dry, die or fade are part of the venous system but they are not important veins and can safely be removed. The blood circulation may become better if these varicose and spider veins are removed. The procedure is simple and has hardly any recovery period. Hospitalization or sedation is not necessary. Most patients are happy with the result. But sclerotherapy is not a preventive procedure and fresh veins can erupt after some time.

Scelrotherapy is an affordable procedure. If done because of pain, or on any other medical grounds, the insurance agencies may pay. If done for cosmetic reasons, and in most cases it is done for cosmetic reasons, insurance agencies do not pay. After the procedure, care has to be taken not to rub or overstrain or squat or run. This is for a few days after which the patient can see for herself how smooth the skin has become and how youthful looking. The awful looking veins would have cleared and her legs are back to normal. However pregnant and lactating mothers should not use this therapy. Pregnancy related varicose veins will disappear soon after delivery on its own and no treatment is needed. This therapy has been in use for the past fifty years or more in Europe.
