Why Do We Care About Celebrity Plastic Surgery

Celebrities have made having plastic surgery procedures the norm for those who can afford them. Even the average citizen will have plastic surgery because their favorite celebrity has had some work done. There are several reasons why we care about celebrity plastic surgery and jealousy is just one of them.

Pressure from the Media

The media invades every facet of a celebrity’s life. They often take pictures when celebrities are unaware they are being photographed. Often they are at home and taking it easy when the paparazzi takes an unflattering picture of them. The negative comments that may ensue from this one bad picture is enough to make even the most confident of celebrities think that they need to do something drastic to make themselves as beautiful as their fan base expects.

The average Joe will get the message that even the most beautiful of creatures strive to look even better. We are constantly bombarded with images of super skinny women with what we perceive as perfect bodies and faces. We don’t realize the price that must be paid for being in the public eye.

Inaccurate Images

Often the images of the elite and perfect are enough to make regular people think they just don’t measure up in terms of attractiveness. We are constantly told that if you are beautiful enough, that untold treasures await us. Unfortunately many people buy into this pack of lies and are more than disillusioned when they have plastic surgery and the same problems that plagued them before the procedure are still hanging over them.

We Like to Gloat

Celebrity plastic surgery is fascinating for so many people because they realize that the images that they see on the screen and in print are achieved by having several procedures to make them ideal. It comforts us to know that Pamela Anderson was not born with the breasts she is more than happy to flash to the world. We also like to think that her breasts when seen close up and personal are not the perfect orbs we imagine them to be.

No one is perfect, and it seems to comfort the masses to know that their favorite celebrities’ perfect faces and bodies are not something they are born with; it is something they must pay for with cash and pain. It eases the pain of what seems to be the unfairness in the world that some people have it and others just don’t. Those that don’t can take comfort in the fact that those that do didn’t have it to begin with; they had to buy it.
