What is The Best Age To Have Plastic Surgery

From all the information that the media feeds us on a daily basis, it leads us to think having cosmetic plastic surgery is like a day trip to the spa. They also lead us to believe that the younger you have plastic surgery procedures, the younger looking you will stay as you age. Is this really the truth?

How the Doctors Determine if You are a Good Candidate for Plastic Surgery

The surgeon you choose to do your plastic surgery will have the final say in whether you are mature emotionally and physically enough to have a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure. One of the questions they ask is what you expect from the surgery you are considering having. They will explain all the risks along with the benefits so that you can make an informed decision.

How Old Should You Be?

Many plastic surgeons recommend that you have small procedures done when you are in your late 30s to early 40s. Each individual is different in terms of skin elasticity and the amount of sun damage, so this too will determine the proper age for you to begin to turn back the hands of time. They also recommend you to begin when you are young because you will heal quicker and be at less risk for developing complications. There is a big difference in risks and healing time between a person of 42 having a mini-face lift and a 70 year old having a full facelift. Results of such procedures as eye lifts, jaw lifts and chemical peels on a person of an average age of 40 have the ability to make you look almost a decade younger than your years for the rest of your life.

Teenagers and Plastic Surgery

Though it is not recommended that teenagers have cosmetic surgery procedures, they often have such cosmetic work done as breast implants and rhinoplasty. Usually it is girls that are looking to enhance their looks rather than look younger. The media and society have told these young women that unless they are perfect, they themselves are less than ideal and it is sad to say that many of them buy into this line of malarkey.

Having plastic surgery is a personal decision that each individual must make for themselves. Having surgery to look younger when you are under 35 is pretty silly as most still have their youthful good looks when they are this age.
