Microdermabrasion is a technique in which the outermost layer of skin which is already dead is grinded away leaving the smother unblemished underlying skin exposed. This procedure can be performed on the chest, hands and face for right around $100 to $150 per treatment. But for the best results it is suggested that one undergoes multiple microdermabrasion treatments for the best results possible.
The microdermabrasion procedure has many benefits for the patient who undergoes it which may include things like a fresher look that is said to be more glowing, the removal of skin that has been damaged by excessive exposure to the sun, various fine lines as well as wrinkles and even pores that have been enlarged by things like acne. Many people still wonder why not just use any one of the many available skin care products currently available on the market to generate these results. But the simplest answer is that the process helps with repair the skin so that it is capable of absorbing these over the counter treatments. Otherwise you will most likely be wasting your money on these various creams and ointments because your skin just simply cannot absorb them in its current state.
Furthermore, the microdermabrasion has also been called the particle resurfacing or even a power peel. These names all mean the same thing as they are talking about a 20 to 30 minute procedure in which the old dead outer layer of skin is sand blasted away leaving the raw unblemished epidermis below exposed to take its place.
In the microdermabrasion technique, the practitioner will either use a special high-powered machine to spray various crystals made from either aluminum or zinc oxide onto the skin or they will use a diamond tipped instrument to literally scrape the dead skin off. From there the microdermabrasion machines all have a vacuum system in which to suck the old dead skin cells away as they are being removed.
Make sure that you check the credentials of the person who will be performing the microdermabrasion prior to undergoing it to ensure that he or she knows what they are doing so that unneeded injuries do not result from the procedure. |
