Vein Sclerotherapy

Many women around the world suffer daily from the same unsightly ailment known as varicose veins. These varicose veins are clustered blue, red and purple colored veins which can usually be found on the calves, thighs and ankles. The biggest problem with these unsightly varicose veins is that an average of half of the women in the world has them and it is considered to be one of the most common cosmetic issues.

Over 150 years ago the technique known as sclerotherapy was first developed but it was not until the 1980 with the development of the duplex ultra sounding technology that sclerotherapy started to become popular. Today more and more cosmetic surgeons are turning to sclerotherapy as a means of helping their patients get rid of their unsightly varicose veins. On top of al of this, the latest sclerotherapy combined with the duplex ultra sounding technique has made the sclerotherapy procedure virtually painless as well as being a highly successful remedy to the unsightly vein issue.

Spider veins which are also known as varicose veins are known in the medical profession by two names, these names are sunburst varicosities and telangiectasias. These unsightly veins are small yet thin veins that have worked their way up close to the surface of the skin but are virtually useless and can be removed without any real side effects. Many people may get these varicose veins simply from heredity while others get them through weight and hormonal changes, while still many others get these unsightly spider veins as an occupational risk. Regardless as to how you got them, they are in fact very unsightly and can become a nuisance. The remedy of these veins can include surgical procedure, but why not try the non invasive alternative known as sclerotherapy.

Now there is also the common misconception that spider veins and varicose veins are one in the same but in fact they are not. Spider veins get their name from the spider web shape that they tend to follow and are usually very fine veins that are darker towards the middle and gradually get lighter in color the farther they get from the middle point. The varicose veins on the other hand are larger and they can even sometimes be as big a quarter of an inch in diameter. These varicose veins are also darker in color than that of the spider veins and generally tend to bulge out the skin. Regardless of which type of these unsightly veins you have sclerotherapy is a way to remedy them with very little chance of having a side effect.
