The sonic dermabrasion procedure although not commonly mentioned is a growing alternative to the harsh standard dermabrasion procedure. While the standard dermabrasion technique blasts away the old dead skin cells using a high pressure spray of zinc or aluminum oxide crystals, the sonic dermabrasion does not. Furthermore the standard dermabrasion procedure requires the use of an anesthetic due to the pain caused by the process while the sonic dermabrasion procedure can be done quickly in a plethora of dermatologist clinics.
The standard technique for a dermabrasion uses a high pressure air pump to shoot crystals against the face that literally blasts off the outermost layer of skin. While this is going on, the vacuum portion is also sucking up the used crystals along with the skin cells that have been removed. In the sonic dermabrasion technique, you will simply go to the dermatologist and have a seat in the chair. The dermatologist will then touch the sonic dermabrasion wand to your skin causing extremely quick vibrations which in effect rips the dead skin cells loose and kills off any bacteria on the skin. The skin cells and bacteria as well as anything else that may be on the skin at the start of the procedure is vacuumed off with a suction system the entire process.
This sonic dermabrasion stimulates new collagen productions in the epidermis much like a standard dermabrasion does but it has been proven to stimulate a better growth of production in comparison. After the procedure has been completed, the physician will then give you a list of recovery items for the next week or so of your recovery period. While there is not really much recovering to do, one of the most important thing is to not allow this newly exposed skin contact with the sun’s harmful rays so you will have to make sure to keep a good quantity of SPF 30 on hand even if it does not look like it will be a sunny day.
Within time your skin along with its new collagen production spurt will make your skin smoother and more vibrant bringing back that youthful glow of yore. |
