Silicone Chin Implant

Facial implants are categorized in four different types, the chin implant, the cheek implant, the jaw implant, and the latest, the lip implant. Implants used in facial implant procedures are made of both solid and semi-solid materials and they come in various shapes and sizes. These implants aim to enhance a particular part of the face that needs to be improved. Heightened cheeks, prominent chin, pouting lips, and a well defined jaw line are the basis of beauty and image. Harmoniously well balanced features of these facial contours define the essence of our beauty. We seek out various ways of making this dream a reality so that we can face everyone without ever feeling ashamed.

There are different types of implants available for facial implants procedure. The proper type of implant used for your procedure will be determined by your plastic surgeon according to the result of your laboratory tests and your desired outcome.

There are three types of implants that can be used particularly in chin implants. The first type is the solid silicone implant. It has been widely used for facial implants since 1956. Silicon implants are solid, flexible, and very durable. They can be customized and manufactured depending on the different degrees of hardness, whether they are soft enough or quite hard enough for the customer’s personal choice.

The second type of implant is the Expanded Polytetrafluoroethylene or ePTFE which is made out of porous materials. It’s quite different from harder silicone implants since it is not as firm as the first one. Polyethylene implants are the third type of implant used in chin augmentation. It has been found to be biocompatible meaning it does not cause any side effects on the body. Both of these implants rely on tissue integration because of their porous composition.

Silicone chin implants are the most widely preferred implants for chin augmentation because they are designed for the surrounding area of soft tissue enhancements. Unlike the other two types of implants that can be difficultly removed, silicone chin implants are screwed to the bone with several titanium screws. This allows the Plastic Surgeon to easily remove the implants if the patient decides to have them removed at a later time.

Silicone chin implants have never been implicated in the formation of any disease. This is one reason why silicone has been used over several decades for all sorts of implants and other medical devices. The cost of the chin implants however, is quite heavy on the pocket. No need to worry though, because there are a lot of patient financing available. You can ask your Plastic Surgeon about patient financing if you wanted to have the procedure at the same time have lighter monthly payments.
