Side Effects of Nipple Correction

Any medical procedure have some side effects and some risks. Anything can go wrong. The patient may have allergy to the anesthesia used. The medicine given to the patient may cause some severe side effect or the method used for the surgery may not produce the expected results.
Though nipple correction procedures do not have any prolonged side effects, the after math of the operation may cause swelling, redness, irritability, pain and the like. If the patient takes care then there will not be any problem after the nipple corrective surgery.

Protruding or flat nipples, inverted ones or hanging ones, they all need surgery to beautify the patient. This is a cosmetic surgery in most cases and the health insurance will not pay up for these procedures. The charges vary according to the procedure, the doctor, the hospital and the like.
Most of these nipple problems are congenital. Several members of many families may have inverted nipples, which they have never bothered to correct, and yet there have been no problems. Only if nipples suddenly change their appearance after puberty or if there is any puckering or blood discharge in them, that one needs to go in for medical advice.

People have been massaging and trying to pull out inverted nipples in order to correct them. Others may have used nipple shields or breast pumps to make their nipples erect and elongated. If this is done under medical advice and guidance then there are no side effects. If a nipple is pierced for correction purposes, the ornament used for nipple piercing may cause infection. While massaging, too much pressure on the nipples might lead to abrasion and bruising of the nipples. Some people may have one normal nipple and one abnormal one.

After surgery the nipples may be swollen or bruised for some time. There may be some pain or discharge but if an expert has done the surgery correctly then there is no cause for worry. There will not be any side effects. If the patient doesn’t take care after the nipple correction surgery, then infection may set in. The patient should take her temperature daily to see f there is any fever. Fever means that there is some infection, which needs to be corrected. Most people are happy after the surgery and pleased with the results. Side effects are almost none, if the patient takes proper care and follows the doctor’s instructions strictly.
