A professionally accomplished microdermabrasion is the way to go to bring back that youthful glow to your skin. You see, as we age, or skin slowly dies and that dead skin makes up the outermost layer even if it does not seem dead. Every time our skin undergoes an injury like acne scaring or sun damage, this injury is imprinted into the old dead skin. It then becomes a vicious cycle as the outer layer of skin determines how the next layer to take its place will look. The professional microdermabrasion simply removes this dead skin that has the scars of our past imprinted into them and allows for the underlying skin to form correctly.
The professional microdermabrasion procedure is done under anesthesia as the actual procedure is painful. The procedure is painful because the skin is being scraped or sandblasted away. There are three types of professional microdermabrasion techniques which includes the standard system, the diamond technique as well as the laser resurfacing technique. The most commonly found professional microdermabrasion is of the standard type which uses aluminum or zinc oxide crystals to literally sandblast the dead skin cells away. In this standard technique, the machine has an air pump/vacuum unit which simultaneously sprays the crystals onto the skin under a high velocity and then vacuums up the crystals along with the dead skin.
When the process has been completed, the skin will be raw and may even “weep” due to the trauma of scraping off the top layer of skin which can easily be recognized for our youth as similar to that of having a brush burn after falling from a bike. Making sure to keep this fluid cleaned up so that it cannot form a crusty layer as well as applying sunscreen is the stint of the recovery period. Within a week or so the skin will start to return to a normal tone and the weeping will cease. When it is all said and done, the results are nothing less than satisfactory for anyone who undergoes a professional microdermabrasion procedure. Your skin will be young and glowing again like it was back in you early adult life, just without all the acne scars and other malformations from childhood. |
