Post Liposelection

As liposelection is a sophisticated procedure where the excess fat cells are targeted and removed leaving the others undisturbed with less trauma and pain. The post operative care is also simpler. As with all other medical procedures, in this process also care has to be seen that there is no postoperative infection. If there is too much of pain or swelling the doctor has to be consulted. Liposelection is a new method of removing extra fat from many parts of the body. The abdomen, waist, chest wall, hands, arms, neck, thighs are some of the prominent places from where the fat cells are removed using liposelection.

It is a sophisticated version of liposuction, in the sense that liposelection involves the removal of selected fat cells which are identified by ultrasound techniques which pinpoint exactly the cells to be removed without touching the other cells. It is not really a weight loss procedure but more of a body sculpting procedure and most people are happy with the result. The surgeons claim that once the excess fat is removed, it will never come back if regular diet and exercises are followed. This method is performed on people who want to look good, not necessarily to become thinner than before. Looking and feeling good works wonders for a person’s well being and inner satisfaction.

This procedure sometimes leaves a little fat behind as fat is necessary for the welfare of the human body. It is a process of identifying the fat cells and removing them without hurting other nerves and blood vessels nearby, hence the trauma is definitely less. And so is the recovery time. As there is no trauma and very less pain, patients can go home within a couple of days and back to normal duties within a week. Though the result can be seen almost immediately, the final result of the procedure is visible within three weeks. Generally as liposelection is done for abdominal fat, a pressure garment/girdle can be worn for three weeks night and day after the procedure to retain the shape. This also keeps the swelling and bruising to a minimum. A course in entomology is appropriate to help reduce swelling if any.

Though there is no rule of the thumb to pin down the time for total recovery, it varies with the extensiveness of the procedure, the amount of fat removed, the number of places from where it is removed and treated and so on. Some restrictions like a ban on heavy lifting are there but the recovery is much faster than with other similar procedures.
