Pectoral Implants

Having a pectoral implant means undergoing a cosmetic surgery to change the appearance and the size of the pectoral muscles. These are the muscles in a male chest, which are impressive and good to look at. They make the man muscular and macho.

In places like Australia famous for their good beaches and outdoor living, men have to bare their chests quite often. And if they have gynecomastia or poor muscle development they may feel conscious and shy. However they cannot spend their entire life covering their chests therefore they would have to do something about it. With the pressures that people have in these modern times, it is not easy to develop such muscles by exercise. Even if they want to, they may not have the time to do so. Instead of feeling unhappy they may choose to undergo plastic surgery, which promises them a good healthy and muscular look.

Pectoral implants are solid, silicone prosthetic devices, which are specially carved and shaped for every individual who is having the implant done before insertion.  After the implant, they should look and feel natural, yet give them the desired chest according to each individual body shape or defect. Bicep and triceps implants are the ones most commonly used to shape, enlarge and firm the upper chest and arm areas and if they are correctly inserted then they give a natural appearance of the chest and muscles in both the flexed and relaxed condition.

Pectoral implants shape, enlarge and firm the chest muscles giving the men the appearance of chest development, which many desire and dream of. Not many pectoral implants are done in the US and it is a fairly rare and uncommon procedure. Hence it is very important that the surgeon chosen to do the job is experienced and Board certified. After all, the chest muscles are used day in and day out while bending, picking up things and doing all the normal chores of everyday life.

Incisions are made in the armpits, a sort of a pocket is created in the fascia of the upper pectoral muscles and the specially made- to -order implants are slipped into it. The implants are specially made of silicone and sculpted to the exact size. A few self-dissolving sutures secure them. The incisions are then closed and small dressings are placed. The patient can immediately see the difference in the pectoral area. A good surgeon will place them in such a way that it cannot slip or shift avoiding the person from making mockery of them.

Congenital and physical defects like spina bifida can be improved by using pectoral implants.
