Otoplasty Stitch Method

Corrective surgery of ears can now be done by the otoplasty stitch method. From five years to eighty six year old patients, there have been no complaints in the last five years since this method was introduced by Dr Merck .In this method only stitches are used, no incisions, and no bandages.

The Dr Merck Stitch Method, which started ten years ago, does not involve cutting at all. The cartilage is neither cut nor exposed but the operation can improve almost all cases of ear defects. Every ear and every earlobe can be treated and the ears after the operation are as resilient as before. With the use of a local anesthetic, biocompatible threads are placed under the skin of the ear and knotted together.  A natural ear crease is formed, setting the ear in the right position. A non-absorbable prolene thread is sunk under the skin using a small stitch. With this stitch a fold of the auricle called the antihelix is reshaped into its natural form and the protruding ear falls into the correct position. This tiny stitch is the only incision used in this operation.

The best part is that the patient can watch with the help of a mirror. As anesthesia given is local he is fully conscious and can even give suggestions if he wants to. Immediately after the operation the patient can return home without bandages. Even spectacles can be worn normally. It is impossible to tell which ear has been operated, which one was protruding and has been corrected when this method is used to correct the imperfections.

The pain is so little that the patient can go back to work or school the very next day. There are no visible scars, as the stitches do not result in any scar. The patient will have beautiful natural looking ears without showing any signs of operation. There are no risks involved either. No pain, no bleeding, no fear of infection, the otoplasty stitch method is fool proof.

Dr Merck is an ENT specialist who invented this method of Otoplasty stitch method. He was a Director of the Department of ENT and Plastic Surgery at the Konstanz clinic in Germany till 2003 after which he began devoting all his time to Otoplasty. This method has been accepted by one and all and there have been no complaints. It guarantees the patient safe treatment without any side effects and promises optimal procedure results.
