A person’s nose creates his profile and if the nose is shapely and good, the face looks good. Though the structure and size and appearance of a nose are hereditary, there are cases when these may change. If there has been an accident or the person has been involved in a fight, the nose may get broken and needs to be repaired. If its structure is such that the person finds breathing difficult, then rhinoplasty or nose job has to be done.
In most cases, a nose job is done from the aesthetic point of view. If it is too large or if the nostrils are too large; if the nose bridge is not satisfactory, if the nose has bumps or lumps or depressions, or the tip is upturned or bulbous, a nose job can improve all these problems and overcome them. In most cases professional actors and actresses of the large and small screen try to improve their looks by having cosmetic surgery of the nose. Some may want a straight nose, some may want the tip to be upturned or some may want their nostrils changed. A rhinoplasty or nose job can correct all this and improve the looks of the person.
There are non-surgical methods like filling the depressed areas or lifting the angle of the tip of then nose by using fillers. But by and large plastic surgery is the perfect answer as it is a delicate operation and when done by experienced hands can give the nose a beautiful and satisfactory shape. Surgery consists of making incisions in the natural folds of the skin or on the cartilage separating the two nostrils and removing the extra tissue or restructuring the nose from there. This is done under local or general anesthesia. The surgeon has to be an experienced one, and a person on whom the patient has full faith. This is half the battle won.
The actual surgery consists of making small incisions in the normal folds of the skin or on the cartilage separating the two nostrils and from these incisions; the extra tissues can be removed surgically. The cartilage and the bone can also be chiseled and made perfect. If it is necessary, a part of the cartilage or bone from the patient himself can be used to beautify the shape of the nose. This is done under local or full anesthesia, depending on the patient and the doctor. After the operation, tubes may be placed in the nose to drain off excess fluids. The tubes and the bandages may remain for about a week during which time the patient has to follow the doctor’s orders to the T. However the full and final beauty of the nose, which is permanent, will be fully visible only after six months or a year. The change will be permanent and it will not be necessary to have another operation. |
