Many people wonder which is better the chemical peel Vs microdermabrasion treatments but they both have their pros and cons associated with them which should firstly be taken in to consideration before making this determination.
To begin with, the microdermabrasion can be done one of three different ways. Firstly the microdermabrasion can be done using aluminum or zinc oxide crystals which are blasted at the skin at high velocities while simultaneously being vacuumed away along with the skin cells that have been removed. Another variation of the microdermabrasion is that of the diamond technique where instead of crystals being sprayed against the kin, the wand will have a diamond coated bit that will scrape the skin cells off all while they are being vacuumed away. Then of course you have the laser resurfacing which is a microdermabrasion procedure that is done with a CO2 laser. All of the microdermabrasion procedures share one thing in common which is that the outermost layer of skin is removed leaving the raw, younger and smoother layers exposed and allows them to form naturally.
Then of course you have the chemical peels which will remove this same outermost layer through the use of an acid. In general you can come to a few conclusions including that the microderm abrasion although is better at removing this layer can be performed unevenly. With the microdermabrasion there is also a lower chance that the skin will become discolored from the procedure as it is not burnt. The microdermabrasion is also a good choice for those who have freckles or even darker pigmented skin while the chemical peel should not be performed on these skin types as there is a chance of skin discoloration.
Ultimately the choice is up to you, while the chemical peel is less invasive in comparison to that of the microdermabrasion procedure, it is also not a good choice for someone who may have darker toned skin or freckles. It is important that you learn ad understand all of the risks and possible outcomes of both procedures so that you can make a well informed decision as to which one you will undergo. |
