Medical Dermabrasion

In the world of cosmetic procedures, one treatment that is growing in popularity is the medical microdermabrasion procedure in which a mechanical means of exfoliating the skin is performed either with a crystal blaster, CO2 laser or a diamond tipped exfoliate. This medical microdermabrasion procedure is a virtually painless, modern alternative to the various chemical peels that are also fairly popular.

The medical microdermabrasion is a way of achieving immediate results with regards to the reduction of wrinkles and fine lines as well as sun damaged and acne prone skin. Furthermore the medical microdermabrasion technique can help take care of blackhead, whiteheads and pimples, age spots, pigment discolorations and even dry, oily or patchy skin. Not only can medical microdermabrasion be done on the face, but it can also be done on the back, shoulders, hips, thighs, waistline and just about anywhere that the skin is not too sensitive. It is also one of the few ways to get rid of those unsightly stretch marks.

In the medical microdermabrasion procedure, the physician will pas a hand-held wand that shoots a controlled flow of oxidize aluminum or zinc crystal over the area to be treated. As these crystals make contact with the skin at high velocities they break off the dead skin cells that make up the outermost layer of your skin. While this is happening, the wand also has a vacuum pump which in turn sucks the used crystals and dead skin away from the area being treated. After the procedure has been completed, the leftover layer of skin is raw and exposed but it is young and living. Furthermore it gives the skin in that area a second chance to re-grow making the skin glow like a young child. On top of all of this, the actual procedure also stimulates the production of collagen which in turn makes the skin thicker and reverses some of the natural signs of aging.

Medical microdermabrasion is basically a chance for your skin to start over allowing it to re-grow smoother and without all of the scars left over from your youth. As we age, the outermost layer of skin dies and when it does, all of the scars and enlarged pores seemingly get stuck in a never ending cycle in which they are always present. The medical microdermabrasion removes these dead skin cells allowing the skin to basically repair itself.
