There are very few people who are perfectly satisfied with the way they look. The face being the most prominent part of a person, and the most attractive one, perfect features are something one would like to have. There are some races and some families, which have a prominent lip structure. As this is hereditary, a surgical procedure is the only option. The surgery is very simple but very delicate. The person has to first find a suitable practitioner who will perform the surgery. There are chances that the post surgery lips are worse than before. Hence it is very important to discus with the doctor to let him know exactly what the patient wants and expects from the surgery.
The surgery to reduce the lip size takes hardly half an hour. It is done on an outpatient basis no hospitalization is required. But care has to be taken. One also has to know that this surgery will make the person find it difficult to eat and talk. At least seven days are needed to get the lips back into a semblance of normalcy. There may be bruising, swelling, redness, soreness, pain or irritation. The person may get depressed, as he has to keep quiet, be in bed and take great care of his lips.
Once the lip structure is suitably controlled by surgery, it is a permanent one, as lips will not grow back to the original size or shape. But the person has to be realistic and not expect too much. Surgery can help and will do the best, but it is not perfect and things like symmetry may have some problem. Also the side effects of anesthesia and medicines have to be taken into account and remedies found if something happens.
