A popular form of the dermabrasion procedure is that of the laser dermabrasion which also goes by the name of laser resurfacing by many people. In this form of dermabrasion, a CO2 laser is used to remove the ageing effects of a person’s skin which can include things like wrinkles and fine lines or even sun damaged skin because they are burnt away as a result of the laser. Treatable areas of the laser dermabrasion technique include the upper forehead along with its frown lines and even the lower lips which are usually too sensitive for the standard dermabrasion technique. Utilizing the laser dermabrasion technique, many people have reported that the laser dermabrasion is capable of fixing what a facelift can’t.
Prior to a laser dermabrasion treatment there are a few important things about preparation that you should know. The laser dermabrasion can be performed with a surgical facelift or even as a stand alone procedure. Furthermore any person who is scheduled for a laser dermabrasion procedure must refrain from any use of makeup as well as various creams and lotion starting at least a day before the procedure is scheduled to take place. Immediately prior to the actual procedure it is important that you wash your face thoroughly with a pure soap so as to remove any particles that may affect the procedure. You must also follow your physician’s instructions as a means to prepare for the procedure as he or she has the experience that can help the outcome of the laser dermabrasion procedure.
Once the laser dermabrasion has been completed you should refrain from facial movements as this is known to cause issues with the recovery. The laser dermabrasion is painful so you will be placed under general anesthesia which has its own side effects and risks which are separate from those of the laser dermabrasion. Over the next 7 to 10 days of your recovery period your skin will be releasing a slimy film to help protect the skin as a natural precaution but since you will be keeping close attention to the raw skin you will have to maintain control over this fluid as it can form a crusty layer over the raw skin. Once the 7 to 10 day recovery period is up, you skin may still be red but by this point it is once again safe to use makeup. You can then use the makeup to cover over the redness as the skin continues to heal itself. |
