Arm Lift Discomfort

A lot of people are considering having a brachioplasty or arm lift but they are concerned with the discomfort that comes with it. This kind of cosmetic procedure reshapes and redefines your upper arm for a more toned and proportionate look. Most of the patients going under the arm lift procedure are those who recently had excessive weight loss resulting to loose and flabby arms. Other patients had their loose upper arms because of natural aging process and sometimes heredity.

The discomfort related to an arm lift procedure comes after the surgery when the anesthesia starts to wear off. The amount of pain and discomfort will occur only in mild to moderate levels which may persist for several days after the surgery. This pain and discomfort is easily remedied with pain medication prescribed by your plastic surgeon.

As an outpatient procedure, you will be having your surgery’s recovery at home. It is mostly important for you to follow the post operative care instructed by your plastic surgeon. By properly following your doctor’s advice, you will be spared from other complications and side effects of the surgery. You should also take the prescribed medicines in correct time intervals as to avoid pain and discomfort as well as infection if you’re taking antibiotics.

You will be asked to refrain from exercising or doing heavy activities that can put pressure on your incision wounds. Your recovery period is the time for you to relax and heal your wounds properly. It is better to follow all the needed care after your surgery to avoid any risk factors and even the need for another surgery.

If the pain and discomfort you feel isn’t relieved by pain medications, then it’s time to call your plastic surgeon and tell him or her about it. This may result to hospitalization to ensure proper care and healing. You would also want to make sure that there is no risk of infection. You can do this by monitoring your body temperature. Even the slightest elevation of temperature or the advent of fever means an infection is present in your incision wounds. You should call your doctor right away to avoid further complications.

An arm lift procedure will benefit you in a lot of ways. You will be confident enough to wear tank tops and sleeveless shirts to show off your newly defined body contour. Your self esteem and confidence will also sky rocket because you can now face anyone and everyone without ever feeling shy or ashamed. The mild to moderate discomfort you’ll feel during the recovery stage is all worth it when you’re finally reaping the fruits of your new success.
