Inverted Nipple Repair

Repairing inverted nipples is not difficult. They can be repaired through simple means and complicated ones like surgery. The nipples of a woman’s breasts are unique and every woman has different types of nipples. Majority of women have protruding nipples, which are around five to ten mms jutting out of the breasts. There are a small percentage of women who are different. Their nipples are not normal and are retracted into the breasts or they look like slits and do not have the normal appearance of a nipple. Some women are born like that, and some have one normal and the other inverted nipple. Even men can have inverted nipples.

Body sculpting can change the inverted nipple into a normal one. Simple methods like massaging the nipples daily and trying to bring them out using the fore finger and the thumb are natural methods. Sometimes using nipple shields inside the bra for short amounts of time may help. Breast pumps can also help in repairing the inverted nipples. Stimulation, arousal or breast-feeding are also known to temporarily or permanently repair the situation. Using breast shells may also help in repairing the nipples.

A woman may be worried whether she can breast feed her child if her nipples are inverted. About ten percent of women may have inverted nipples and most of them successfully breast feed their babies. However if the woman wants to repair her inverted nipples because of cosmetic preference, then plastic surgery is the answer. A Board certified experienced surgeon could help her in this matter. The surgery consists of making small cuts or incisions on the sides of the nipples, and repairing them by removing extra tissues and glands. The nipples get normal and the wound is stitched using tiny stitches. However the woman may not be able to breast-feed her child after the operation as the milk ducts may have been hampered during the nipple repair surgery.

Nipple piercing is another method of repairing the inverted nipples. A sharp jewelry is used to pierce the nipples and when it hangs from the nipples they get automatically repaired and back to normal. This also has side effects but if the woman is mentally and physically prepared for it, then nipple correction and repair can be done. These operations may be small but they are not supported by the National health therefore the person may not be able to claim any insurance.
