Fraxel Laser Skin Resurfacing

As a child, our skin was, well smooth and “baby soft” but as we age and go through the many life altering periods in our life our skin looses that youthful vibrancy. From acne to the sun, there are so many variables in life that effect the way our skin looks and feels and it is with the Fraxel laser resurfacing procedure that we can get some piece of mind that our skin has been rejuvenated to its youthful glory. While there are people out there that some how escape all of these hap chances that affect our skin, they make up a small minority of people in this world. Unfortunately everyone in due time will start to face the effects of the Earth’s gravitational pull on our skin and they too will eventually start to sag. For the rest of us who get fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars and even pigment discolorations and sun damage, there is an answer, a way to bring back that youthful glow.

For the longest time there were only two available laser resurfacing techniques. These are broken down into ablative and non-ablative laser treatments. With the ablative laser treatments one can usually expect the best results but at a cost. The non-ablative laser procedures have shorter recovery periods but even with multiple treatments a single ablative laser procedure will still have better results. The new Fraxel laser procedure uses fractional photothermolysis as a means to perform a non-ablative laser procedure which has proven results equal to that of an ablative laser treatment.

For the Fraxel laser resurfacing procedure you will be placed under anesthesia and it will take anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes for this anesthetic to fully kick in, once it does, the surgeon will use a lubricant and the laser wand to perform the Fraxel laser resurfacing procedure. There are far less risks associated with the Fraxel laser procedure in comparison to that of the various ablative laser resurfacing techniques and also has a fairly short recovery period. Make sure you consult with the surgeon prior to the procedure to make sure that you have a good understanding of the procedure as well as the risks and the recovery process that is associated with the procedure.
