Facial Botox Injection

The injection of Botox features a neurotoxin which is made in a laboratory from the bacteria that is known to cause botulism. This neurotoxin is then diluted and purified before being used by the surgeon in a Botox injection treatment. When you go your consultation, the surgeon will explain to you exactly which types of wrinkles and folds that he or she can repair with Botox. You will then at this point need to make a decision about the results of the Botox injections procedure. The surgeon will then make a decision as to what muscle groups to treat with the Botox injection to get the results you are seeking.

The Botox compound will then be directly injected into the group of muscle that the surgeon decided on. The surgeon injects directly into the muscle group for a reason which is because if it was not injected directly into the group of muscles it could then migrate into other groups of muscles causing paralysis of the face. By remembering that since the facial Botox injection is a neurotoxin, its purpose is to paralyze the muscles as a means to keep them from contracting. This relaxation of the muscles that get treated then prevents the folds and wrinkles from appearing. The Botox injection results last for about a 6 month period and after which it is then time for your next injection.

Developed in the 1970’s, Botox was a means of controlling a child’s squinting. It was then determined that Botox could remedy issues such as stuttering and bladder spasms. All of these issues share one major thing in common which is that they are all caused by involuntary muscle spasms. Botox was then later determined to stop other facial muscle spasms that cause forceful and repetitious blinking. The surgeons began to notice that the facial muscle spasms patients began to have less apparent folds and wrinkles because of the Botox injection treatment. Today Botox has grown to become one of the leaders in cosmetic surgery alternatives with regards to defying the effects of aging on one’s face.
