Eyelid Surgery Cost

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure performed on the eyelids to improve their looks, correct the eyelids or restructure them. The cost of the eyelid surgery would be according to the procedure performed. It will also depend on the surgeon’s fees, the hospital one goes to, the operation charges, the medications provided and the anesthesia used.

The first thing that a person wishing to undergo blepharoplasty should do, is to research and find out a suitable surgeon whose case histories are excellent, who is recognized by the Board and very importantly who has enough experience in performing such surgeries. The more the experience more would be his fees. Also one should discus all the points with him and knows exactly what procedure he is going to follow. That will make the patient have full knowledge of the operation and full confidence and trust in the surgeon. This would mean several appointments and each would cost accordingly.

The next would be the type of anesthesia decided. There are various types of anesthesia and all have their plus and minus points which the operating surgeon will explain. Each type of anesthesia will have its own price and one has to take everything into consideration before deciding to undergo the surgical procedure. The hospital where the operation will be done will also have its own rate. This will be displayed or told by the surgeon or the hospital authorities. Each hospital has its own price and depending on the location, the area and the rating of the hospital, the fee will be decided.

As for the operating charges, the price may be around $1000 t0 $5000 depending upon whether it is the upper eyelid surgery or the lower eyelid surgery, or laser surgery or both eyelids surgery or Asian eyelid surgery. The charges will be told on demand and the patient can decide when, where, by whom and how the surgery is performed and the charges will be accordingly. After the operation, the recovery charges may not be much. However, medications like eye drops, ointments and postoperative bandaging may cost a bit.

The eyelid surgery cost will depend on all the above-mentioned points and can be discussed and fixed in advance to avoid any confusion later. Also, if the eyelid surgery is done for cosmetic purposes, the insurance company may not be in a position to pay. If it is done for medical reasons then it may pay up or reimburse.
