Endoscopic Brow Lift

A brow lift is performed when a person feels that the wrinkles on his face and the worry creases on his forehead are not attractive and make him look older. Ageing or illness or sudden weight gain or loss may result in such an appearance. It is possible to improve or change the look by plastic surgery. An eminent surgeon can perform surgery, which will remove the lines and wrinkles and change the look of the patient.

It is a simple procedure. Anesthesia is given, an incision is made, the doctor removes the parts which make the skin sag or form wrinkles, stitches it back in position, bandages it and makes the patient recover by prescribing medicines and rest. Though there are many ways of undergoing a brow lift or a forehead lift, as it is commonly called. Two of the more popular methods are the classic lift and the endoscopic lift.

The classic lift involves only one long incision which begins at the ear level and goes round the hair line. The surgeon will then remove the extra skin or fat which is responsible for the wrinkles or the sagging and then completes the operation. The endoscopic brow lift has its advantages. Instead of making one single long incision, the surgeon will make a series of incisions in the scalp. A small scope, which is a small camera at the end of a thin tube, is inserted in one of the incisions to look at the tissues and muscles. This is projected on a screen and he can view it enlarged or normal as per his wish and then take a decision. Another device will then be inserted to perform the necessary changes.

Endoscopic brow lift is a surgical video device used during brow lifts. In this type of lift, small titanium anchors are used to keep the offending tissues in place once they are altered suitably. These anchors are tiny but very strong. They can manage to keep the tissues in place for many years, almost till the end of a person’s life. As the incisions are smaller they are less invasive. There will be minimal scarring and the recovery time is also less. Hence many people prefer the endoscopic brow lift compared to the classic lift though both give similar results.

However, for this surgery, as for all others, it is the surgeon’s skill and experiences that matter the most for the end result. The more experienced the surgeon better will be the result.
