Of the various techniques that enhance breast lift, donut breast lift is the one with vague scar. This technique was invented to refrain from the dreaded horizontal incisions. Most of the patient’s prefer donut mastopexy as it results in only a small unnoticeable scar around the areola. Today, most women are worried about drooping breasts. Donut mastopexy is the least invasive breast lift surgery but still there are various risks postoperatively as this surgery causes wrinkles, tissue evolution etc. In this concentric breast lift, the physician may opt for a local anesthesia instead of general anesthesia. Concentric circles are carefully made around the areola to be excised. With the removal of the skin in this part of the areola, the nipples are shifted towards a more upper position. Later the incision is closed with string sutures that eventually appear around the excision. As mentioned earlier, there is a possibility of wrinkling of the skin as there is more skin than required around the areola. But as these wrinkles will subside within weeks, there is no point to worry. Now if one is too much bothered about this wrinkle, the doctor will go for a cut that is made vertically from the areola to the chest. But this will be more of an anchor shaped lifting, which is another prominent technique, of breast lifting.
Donut breast lift becomes more effective for women who are gifted with a smaller breast. Even though these breasts appear small they may look saggy and only a few incisions are required for the fullness of the breast.
