Cost of Nipple Correction

It is a wrong conception that plastic surgery is expensive. It need not be. It can be within the reach of a normal person's pocket. Plastic surgery is a specialized procedure, which is generally performed for body sculpting or body contouring. Surgeons specialize in different branches of plastic surgery. Often the total cost of any plastic surgery is a sum total of the doctor’s fee, the hospital charges, the medicines, the anesthesia and the assistant’s charges. They are all variable.

Different places and hospitals have different rates. Different doctors and surgeons have differing charges. Even medicines of different brands containing the same ingredients also cost different. Hence it is difficult to pinpoint and decide how much a particular surgery would cost. The patient to be and the surgeon should discus the costs of the operation well in advance before the surgery is planned so that there are no misunderstandings later. In most cases of plastic surgery, insurance does not cover the cost as it is considered a cosmetic procedure. The patient should inform exactly what he or she wants and expects from the operation and the surgeon should tell the procedure, the risks, the after effects, the side effects, the recovery and the possible dangers of surgery.

On a rough estimate a nipple correction cost is around $560 though it can vary from $ 500 to $ 1500, depending upon the doctor, the procedure and the hospital plus the nature of the problem. Many men and women have small or large nipples, some have hanging ones and some have inverted or slit nipples. Some people feel they are cosmetic problems while others may feel that they are a matter of life and death. Ageing or breast-feeding may cause nipples to be elongated and hanging down. Or it may be a birth defect, or hereditary that the nipples are flat or inverted, that areolas are large and puffy. If they are caused by some infection or disease or some trauma the surgeon has to accordingly modify the operation to correct it.

The procedure is simple taking just about half an hour and the patient need not stay in the hospital. After a brief rest period of a couple of days at home the patient can resume normal duties. Adequate care has to be taken till the recovery is complete. Nipple correction is generally for life. Once the surgeon performs the operation, the nipples will be corrected and remain that way.
