Patients are advised to wear a jock strap kind of device which is known as a compression garment for the first week. This can look a little stupid but it helps in the recovery process. For the first 48 hours, it has to be worn continuously. After this it can be worn during the night for the next 5 days. Gauze is put over the adit sites. (Adit is small puncture holes in the chin and other areas). The gauze will absorb all the fluids that leak out of the adits. The gauze needs to be changed every 12 hours till the leaking stops. After which it can be removed. After the first day you can shave and clean your face as usual.

The recovery for chin liposuction is extremely fast and no special care is required. After the 1st week, depending on your condition, you can live your normal life. In fact you can go back to a desk job within 4 days after the operation. You can move around easily and there is no food or other restrictions. If there is pain, then the surgeon may advise you some pain killers to numb the pain.
