The average cost of a brow lift varies a great deal and it can be anywhere between US $3000 and $7000. It depends on the technique used for the brow lift, the doctor’s consultation fees, the actual surgical procedure, the hospital where it is done, the anesthetic’s fee and other factors. Most important are the out-patient charges, the surgeon’s fees, anesthesia, operating room charges, implants if any, laboratory fees, medical test fees, medications, X ray charges where applicable, home healthcare, post surgery garments, etc.
Board certified experienced surgeons with a good track record of success stories might charge up to $2250 as their fees. Some surgeons insist on full physical examinations of the patients, which are an added cost. Medical evaluation and lab testing also form part of the testing prior to brow lift procedure. If any medical problems exist, corrective measures have to be done before going under the surgeon’s scalpel. If the patient is a smoker, then she has to stop at least a fortnight prior to the procedure and if she is taking any medicines which may interfere with the surgery, that too has to be noted and stopped for some time till the recovery after the brow lift procedure. The surgeon has to be sure that the patient is physically fit, has no health problems, which can hinder the operation and can safely recover from the anesthesia and the operation without any complications due to some other illness.
However prices vary considerably and one has to find out for oneself what the brow lift would eventually cost. It is always a consideration in an elective surgery. A brow lift deals with the most important part of one’s body-the face- and one cannot take any chances with it. Hence when choosing a plastic surgeon for the job, his experience and the patient’s comfort level with him are as important as the final cost of the surgery.
A brow lift or a forehead lift is a cosmetic procedure and is generally not covered by insurance plans. And most insurance companies do not pay. Hence it is important that the monetary part should be discussed before undergoing the procedure to avoid any misunderstandings later. It is better to have it in writing how much it will cost. You need to plan a little more than the expected cost since there may be postoperative problems, which may need another visit to the surgeon or the hospital, more medication and tests. |
