Botox Recovery

The botox recovery process after a Botox treatment is usually quite simple. For starters it is suggested that you should not go out for several hours after the procedure for the simple fact that your entire face will most likely be completely numb and unable to talk, eat or drink properly. This numbing generally wears off in a couple hours. Since the injection of Botox has been reported as resembling that of an insect bit, assuming that the surgeon you chose has ample experience injecting Botox, then you should not have any real pain. Furthermore the chances for any real side effects associated with the Botox injections is very slim and should not be that much of an issue. Should you experience and headaches or flu like symptoms or even numbing or the inability to use muscle groups other than those treated then you should talk to a doctor. If this does not happen then you are in the clear.

The recovery period for a Botox injection is basically not existent and really only takes a couple of minutes. Some people even undergo a Botox treatment during their lunch break and then can return to work immediately following the Botox injections. The surgeon will tell you to refrain from any strenuous exercises for at least 24 hours following you Botox injections and that you should not massage the treated area as it these can cause the Botox to migrate to other muscle groups.

You also cannot lie down for at least a 5 hour period following your Botox treatment. The physician may ask you to do some facial exercises as a means of testing the effectiveness of the treatment. These exercises are fine and will not cause the Botox to migrate to other facial muscle groups. Your physician will also give you a list of skin regiments with regards to maintain facial cleanliness without adversely affecting the Botox injections or causing the Botox to migrate.

Immediately follow the Botox injections your face will be completely numb and most likely most of the facial muscles may not respond when you tell them to move. This is normal as the Botox neurotoxin is paralyzing the muscles while at the same time there is also an anesthetic in the injection which frees you of any pain or itching. After you first Botox injection session in may also take up to a week for the results to become noticeable but any succeeding treatments will produce almost instantaneous results.
